Academic Planning Materials for the 2023-2024 School Year

Overview:

Student registration for the 2023-2024 school year will take place online using the FOCUS Student Portal from December 7th through January 13th in ELA classes. All rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who will be attending Towson High School next school year must register for their 2023-2024 classes using the FOCUS Student Portal. 

Please use the following academic planning materials to assist you in developing an appropriately challenging and rigorous schedule for the 2023-2024 school year. 
The academic planning materials include:
  • Step-by-Step directions for registering using the online FOCUS Student Portal. The LINK to the FOCUS Student Portal can be found in the step-by-step directions document.
  • Grade-level presentations to learn about courses and graduation requirements that are specific to your students’ grade level next year.
  • Grade-level course planning guides to assist in course selection.
  • Department-based presentations, handouts, and videos to acquaint you with our course offerings and course progressions.
  • Contact information for our School Counselors and Department Chairs who are available to answer any academic planning questions that you have.

  • School Counselors are available in the Cafeteria during each lunch shift.
  • Students can schedule a 1-1 appointment with their School Counselor using the Bookings App.
  • If there is a problem with your automatically assigned courses, please complete this course request correction form.
  • Mrs. Raley and Mr. Hobbs will be meeting with rising 9th grade students on the following dates:
    • Dumbarton Middle School: January 6th 
    • Loch Raven Technical Academy:January 10th
    • Ridgley Middle School: December 13th 

Registration Timeline:

  • December 1-6 - Students engage in pre-registration lessons in Advisory
  • December 7-January 13 - Students register in ELA classes using the FOCUS portal 
  • End of January - Course Verification Forms distributed in Advisory & Course Corrections completed
