AVID 9: Building the Foundation
What to Expect:
Ninth grade AVID students begin their journey by building a strong academic foundation and developing habits that lead to long-term success. Students learn essential organization strategies, note-taking techniques, and time management skills. There is a strong focus on building a positive classroom community and developing student confidence.

- Introduction to focused note-taking and organizational systems
- Goal-setting and academic self-monitoring
- Collaborative study and inquiry through AVID tutorials
- Team-building and communication skills
- Exposure to high school expectations and college pathways
By the End of 9th Grade, Students Will:
- Understand what it takes to succeed in rigorous coursework
- Build effective learning routines and academic resilience
- Begin identifying their long-term academic and career goals
