an excellent online source for literary research access until April 27

OVERVIEW

The literary research paper differs from other research projects you may have had in that it instead of just gathering and presenting information, the literary research paper requires you to analyze literature, develop a defensible interpretation of the works and support your interpretation with primary support from the literature and secondary research from academically sound sources. In addition to this, you must present your paper in a prescribed academic format (MLA) which includes internal citations and a Works Cited page.  This paper will likely challenge you to think critically and apply skills you have developed throughout your high school career and perhaps develop some new ones.

As we move forward over the next 2 months it will take to complete this project, please feel free to come see me if you feel lost or need help. Mr. Ickes can also be a great help in finding materials and the research paper in general. Pay attention to the information you get in the library and use your time wisely. This project will undoubtedly be a significant contributor to your 3rd and 4th quarter success in the class.

Writing a formal literary research paper is difficult and challenging, but it can also be very rewarding. In the end you will have created something you can be proud of. Those who choose a topic they are interested in and embrace the process may even enjoy themselves. I urge you to intellectually engage with the material, take chances and learn new things. Good Luck!
